Eröffnung Atelier Dreiseitl Asia in Singapur


Singapur ist eine faszinierende Stadt. Innerhalb einer Generation hat sie sich vom Entwicklungsland zur Industrienation katapultiert. Diese Geschwindigkeit und Lebendigkeit spürt man überall auf der Insel, in der vor allem chinesische, malayische und indische Ethnien, aber auch viele Europäer zusammenleben. Wagt man einen Blick in die Zukunft, ist aus unserer Sicht deutlich, dass sich diese Stadt weiterhin sehr schnell und vielfältig entwickeln wird. Wir vom Atelier Dreiseitl wollen daran mitwirken und haben deshalb ein Zweigbüro dort eröffnet. Derzeit arbeiten bereits 9 Mitarbeiter an verschiedensten Projekten, die sich mit nachhaltiger Stadtentwicklung und Landschaftsarchitektur beschäftigen.

Singapore geht neue Wege beim Versuch, die natürlichen Ressourcen wie Wasser und Grün zu schützen, mit Sorgfalt zu nutzen, damit neue Lebensräume zu schaffen und diese ansprechend in die städtische Umwelt zu integrieren.

Wir konnten am ABC Water Project (active, beautiful and clean) massgebend mitwirken, was den einzelnen geplanten Massnahmen eine gemeinsame Strategie und Zielrichtung gibt. Das besondere, auch über die Medien in alle Gesellschaftskreise getragene Vorgehen kann auch für viele andere Städte Modellcharakter haben.

Eines der ersten Kernprojekte, welches Atelier Dreiseitl asia federführend bearbeitet, ist die Umgestaltung des Bishan Park mit jährlich über 3 Mio. Besuchern und die Integration des auch für die Wasserversorgung wichtigen Kalang Rivers.

Singapore is a fascinating city. Within one generation it has gone from a developing country to an industrialized nation. This energy and life can be felt all over the city, where people of diverse ethnicity, Chinese, Malaysian, Indian and even European, live together. Sneaking a look into the future, we are certain that the city will continue to develop rapidly in manifold ways. We are delighted to be part of this process and have consequently founded a second office in Singapore where 9 members of staff are currently working on various sustainable urban and landscape design projects, a key one of which is Bishan Park.

Singapore is forging new paths in the management of natural resources such as water and open space. With the aim of conserving essential resources, approaches have been developed which foster careful use in such a manner that new living spaces are created and seamlessly integrated in the urban environment.

We were able to participate in the development of the ABC Water Project (Active, Beautiful and Clean) so as to ensure that all the planned individual interventions will share the same common strategy and overall goal. This unique working method has been widely communicated to all levels of local society via the media, and is a model for many other cities.

A first key project for Atelier Dreiseitl Asia is the redesign of Bishan Park. The park has currently over 3 million visitors annually. The office is leading the development of a project which restores and integrates the River Kallang, one of Singapore’s important public water supply resources, into the heart of this busy park.
     

     

Bishan Park


Singapur hat sich schnell entwickelt und das Problem immer wieder auftretender Überschwemmungen durch die heftigen tropischen Regenfälle wurde technisch erfolgreich durch Betonkanäle gelöst. Viele andere Aspekte, wie die Integration in den Städtebau oder die angrenzenden Parks, der Kontakt der Menschen zum Wasser oder die Rücksicht auf Lebensräume von Flora und Fauna, wurden nicht beachtet. Grundlage des von uns entwickelten Masterplans für ganz Singapur ist es, diese Versäumnisse nachzuholen. Es soll eine hydraulisch funktionierende, aber auch die anderen Aspekte integrierende Lösung entwickelt werden. Der ca. 50 ha große Bishan Park wird deshalb in großen Teilen überplant und vor allem der durchfließende Kallang River, derzeit ein Betonkanal, wird in einen naturähnlichen Fluss umgebaut und dadurch zum zentralen Highlight des neuen Parks. Derzeit läuft die Ausführungsplanung, der Baubeginn ist für das Frühjahr kommenden Jahres geplant.


 

Bishan Park • Singapore


Singapore has developed as an urban city with incredible rapidity, and the problem of frequently occurring flooding due to intense tropical rainfalls was initially solved with the technical solution of concrete channels. Numerous other aspects such as the integration of the channels into the urban fabric and existing parks, contact with water and enjoyment by people, and consideration and protection of flora and fauna habitats were simply ignored. The basic precept of the master plan which we developed for Singapore is to remedy this situation. Site specific solutions are now being developed which fulfill not just an hydraulically function system, but take into account the myriad of other factors mentioned above. Bishan Park is a 50 hectare site which is being redesigned as a first pilot project. At the center of the park is the Kallang River. Currently encased in a concrete channel, the Kallang River will be restored as a natural river and will be one of the highlights of the park. We are currently carrying out construction documentation; the project is expected to go on site in spring 2009.
 
 

Ausstellungen


Im Auftrag des Public Utilities Board der Stadt Singapur gestalteten wir einen Messestand, der die grundlegenden Ideen hinter dem zukünftigen Umbau der Flüsse und Kanäle in der Stadt zeigte. Die Resonanz war riesig, denn in vielen Städten wird dieses Thema in Zukunft auf der Tagesordnung stehen.


 

Exhibition • Singapore


Commissioned by Singapore’s Public Utilities Board, we developed an exhibition stand demonstrating the key ideas behind the future redevelopment of the city’s rivers and canals. The response was enormous; in the near future this theme will be on many cities’ agendas.
